Most of us are aware that depression is a growing problem among teenagers and we see young people basically self-medicate with sex.
In my experience, I have been surprised that many parents are quite matter-of-fact about their teenage children being sexually active. They see it as just the way things are today. That may be, but we need to be a positive influence on them and guide them to live a chaste life — not because that’s what the Church teaches, although that’s important — but because it is the way they will maintain their dignity and best insure a happy future.
